What does the information on a battery label mean?

Each battery should tell you its voltage, amp hours, and total power (watt hours). Using the example above, the power of the battery is calculated as:

  • Voltage (V) x Capacity (Ah) = Energy (Wh)

  • 56V X 2.5Ah = 140 Wh

Note: Some battery labels use watts (W) instead of watt hours (Wh). This isn’t as helpful because users don’t just want to know how much power the battery generates in a given moment — they want to know how long it can deliver that power. Watt hours (Wh) is a measurement of energy over time, and an indication of run time.
